TURNING MARBLE INTO JEWELLERY

True to the family credo ‘Young at Heart’, Charlotte Lynggaard, head designer and creative director of the house, and her husband Michel travelled south. A small town north of Tuscany has been a mecca for sculptors, professional bronze casters and stone carvers for centuries thanks to the local Carrara marble. To gain a better understanding of this craft, the two decided to take a course. Their two instructors, Jørgen Haugen Sørensen and Eli Benveniste, introduced them to the art of sculpting with the precious mineral. Charlotte has always been a big fan of modelling with her hands. All of Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen’s previous collections, like this one, have elements of organic and majestic beauty and express a zest for life. “Wherever I go, I collect shells, beach stones, forest cones and other aesthetic natural wonders as inspiration for my jewellery designs,” says the designer, who also made larger reliefs for the first time on her trip to Italy. These served as a template for creating rings in a completely new way. An extraordinary and completely new jewellery line was born: ‘the BoHo-Collection’. Elements of Art Nouveau, the Bohemian way of life and the wonders of nature were the source of inspiration. All of these extraordinary, very large and beautiful pieces of jewellery are intricately designed one-offs that are made by hand in the company’s own workshop. Individually moulded from yellow gold and set with unique gemstones and diamonds, this collection also bears the unmistakable hallmarks of the Ole Lynggaard DNA – sophisticated, natural, feminine. And as the exceptional Danish manufacturer has always been able to create beguiling jewellery lines from an incredibly creative design, these exclusive rings will only be the beginning of a new exquisite journey.
