8. June 2022

The international jury of the RED DOT Award 2022 honors the “Gents Vitality” smartwatch from Swiss watch manufacturer Frederique Constant in the Product Design 2022 category.

After a forced break of two years, the Red Dot Jury, an independent panel of 48 experts from 23 nations, sets out in search for good design and the best technology. They are all united by the design expertise that they have built up during their careers as professors, consultants, industrial designers or journalists. The Red Dot Gala takes place in Essen and invites all winners to celebrate their success together on June 20th at the Aalto Theater in Essen and the Red Dot Design Museum. The model of the “Gents Vitality” smartwatch by Frédérique Constant is all grey. This simple, elegant version has a very modern look. With a single press on the crown, a digital display appears in the lower section, allowing a large amount of predefined information to be retrieved from the Frederique Constant Smartwatch app.

Clever&Smart: RED DOT-Award für Frederique Constant

The creation effortlessly plays with reflections, shadows and contrasts. Illuminated by sunlight, each individual applied index stands out against the dial and the polished hands appear to float above the sun-brushed dial, creating a subtle play of colors. The model also monitors a wealth of personal information as well as data from the wearer’s immediate surroundings, such as activity, heart rate, calories burned, sleep monitoring and goals. There is even a function with a series of exercises to reduce stress and regulate breathing. The Gents Vitality smartwatch has a weather-sensor and synchronizes the date and time automatically. Calls and messages can be retrieved easily. The battery power of the Gents Vitality smartwatch goes far beyond the standard of current smartwatches and provides up to eleven days of autonomy depending on how the watch is used. The development of the “Gents Vitality” began in 2015, when the Maison became the first Geneva-based manufacturer of mechanical watches to launch a “Swiss Made” smartwatch. In June 2020, Frederique Constant demonstrated its progress in the field of smartwatches: in addition to the technological savoir-faire, the aesthetics and design of the series also give these emblematic models a new look thanks to a special dial.
