Originally, the guilloché had both a decorative and a practical purpose: it protected smooth surfaces from scratches and ensured better readability, as each micro-relief prevents direct and dazzling light reflections. The Runabout Automatic’s central guilloché pattern on a silver or black background absorbs every ray of light and gives the dial an attractive iridescent effect. The chapter ring clearly indicates the modernity of the Maison Frederique Constant. The Runabout collection is characterized by large Arabic numerals, which are complemented by a minute track in five-minute intervals. The hour indices give the dial visual depth and significantly improve legibility. The luminous-coated hour and minute hands also provide support on warm summer evenings, even at dusk or night. The hands match the color of the model’s case and are either rose gold-plated or made of stainless steel.
