WATCH MECHANICS DELUXE

Patek Philippe is expanding its chronograph and Grandes Complications collection with a new timepiece for left-handers. In the recent history of Patek Philippe, the new reference 5373P-001 is the first watch for left-handers and impresses with its novel arrangement of pushbuttons and counters and the thinnest movement ever produced by Patek Philippe, which is housed in a platinum case.

Since 2005, Patek Philippe has been developing the field of short-time measurement further, more specifically: a new series of chronograph movements with and without additional functions – all designed and manufactured in its own workshop. The first invention: the calibre CHR 27-525 PS, which holds first place as the world’s flattest split-seconds chronograph movement.  In 2010 this was followed by the calibre CHR 27-525 PS Q, with a height of just 7.3 mm, making it the thinnest split-seconds chronograph movement with a perpetual calendar ever produced by the Manufacture. Inspired by a Patek Philippe one-off from 1925, the Manufacture has now developed the reference 5372 for left-handers. The 180° mirrored arrangement of the displays makes the dial something special. Another new feature is the azure, ebony-black sub-dials, which also emphasise the anthracite-coloured dial with a vertical satin finish and black gradient towards the outer edge. The transparent back provides a glimpse of the fantastic architecture of the calibre with its two switching wheels.

If you fancy a change, you are free to replace the sapphire crystal back with the platinum back supplied. The elegant aesthetics of the moulded parts and the bridges “à l’ancienne”, whose pointed inner angles can only be made by an experienced hand, also deserve special attention. The black calfskin strap with embossed textile decoration and red stitching matches the sporty, modern look of the dial. The brilliant-cut diamonds in the centre of the case are a Patek Phillipe signature and are also set at 12 o’clock on this left-handed timepiece. In the current collection, this watch is the only model with the CHR 27-525 PS Q calibre and replaces the references 5372P-001 and 5372P-010. The new chronograph in platinum with a modern, sporty dial is only produced in small numbers and is aimed primarily at left-handed lovers of sophisticated watch mechanics and passionate watch collectors.
