The Cosmos on the Wrist

With the new Celestial Reference 6105G-001, Patek Philippe expands its distinguished collection of astronomical timepieces with a world first. For the first time, a wristwatch from the Geneva manufacture displays not only the night sky, moon phases and celestial movements, but also the daily sunrise and sunset times for Geneva. The development of this exceptional Grand Complication took more than five years and resulted in six patent applications.

At the heart of the timepiece is the newly developed Calibre 240 C LU CL LCSO, based on the legendary ultra-thin Calibre 240 and enhanced with 121 additional components. An ingenious mechanism calculates the changing sunrise and sunset times throughout the year and automatically adjusts them when switching between daylight saving time and standard time. Two correctors integrated into the case allow the civil time and astronomical displays to be adjusted simultaneously and intuitively – an innovation that Patek Philippe has introduced for the first time in a wristwatch.

The multi-layered dial recreates the night sky with remarkable depth. Several rotating sapphire and mineral glass discs display the visible sky above Geneva, the apparent movement of the stars, the moon’s orbit and its phases in real time. Completing this celestial display is an ingenious date indication that also serves as the scale for the sunrise and sunset displays.

This highly sophisticated mechanism is housed in a striking 47 mm white gold case featuring a contemporary X-shaped motif inspired by the structural forms of historic space modules. Two crowns, an integrated black composite strap and numerous patented details further emphasise the watch’s technical sophistication. With the Celestial Reference 6105G-001, Patek Philippe combines exceptional watchmaking, astronomical precision and contemporary design in a remarkable tribute to the cosmos.
