Some watches tell us more than just the exact time – they tell stories. Of craftsmanship, of wanderlust, of timeless elegance. The new Patek Philippe reference 7130R-014 is just such a timepiece. Even more, a world timepiece!
But even if we are addressing a knowledgeable clientele in our watch blog, we are happy to elaborate a little. Why do you actually need a world time watch? A travel watch, often referred to as a world time watch, is a watch that can display several time zones simultaneously. It is particularly useful for frequent travelers as it makes it possible to see the time in different places around the world at a glance without having to constantly reset the watch. Fortunately, the days of per se male honorary consuls, diplomats or double-zero agents are over.
The reference 7130R-014 is not only a technical masterpiece, but also a real gem. Its 36 mm case in warm rose gold is adorned with a bezel set with 62 diamonds (top Wesselton, flawless) – elegant, but never overloaded. The olive green dial with a hand-guilloched Vieux Panier motif in the center is particularly eye-catching. This artistic engraving, a symbol of the finest watchmaking art, lends the watch a subtle depth and is reminiscent of the traditional craftsmanship of bygone eras.
But behind the elegant façade lies complex technology: the extra-flat automatic caliber 240 HU allows 24 time zones to be displayed simultaneously! Thanks to a patented mechanism from 1999, a single press of the pusher at 10 o’clock is all it takes to synchronize the time zone and day/night display without compromising accuracy. Perfect for anyone who commutes between Paris, New York and Tokyo, it is also useful in everyday working life when you are in contact with friends, family or business partners in different time zones. You can immediately see what time it is elsewhere.
The rose gold diamond-shaped hands and applied indices harmonize particularly well with the olive green colour scheme, which is completed by the matching city disc and the shiny calfskin strap. The latter is rounded off with ecru-colored stitching and a pin buckle with a further 27 diamonds.
With the new reference 7130R-014, Patek Philippe not only adds a particularly feminine and stylish variant to its world time watch collection, but also reminds us that time is a precious commodity – and that it is worth shaping it with beauty and precision.
